Choosing your Coach

With so many coaches out there how do you decide on whether you need a coach or not and whether a particular coach is right for you? To support you in thinking this through here are our own ideas on coaching so that you can see if what we offer is what you are looking for.

Coaching is a collaborative or co-creative process between the coach and the client or clients. We work in partnership with you to support you to meet your goals. This is intended to be an inspirational process, one with challenge through a trusting relationship. This means that we work contractually toward your outcomes. If your organization pays for your coaching sessions we will have a multi-party meeting to ensure expectations and outcomes are clearly understood. The actual coaching sessions are, however, confidential leaving you to decide how much you share with your employer, if anything. What they will be interested in is the outcomes. Once the preliminary contracting process is complete we then explore in more detail what it is you are seeking through the coaching process. We believe that it is important to build a shared understanding of your world, how it is and how you want it - and you - to be.

We work with you to enable you to think creatively and find solutions but, most of all, to become more of who you want to be. Coaching is about how to develop and use your potential for the benefit of yourself and others. We work in partnership with you to find out what is effective and what is not. We offer you the time and space for reflection and discovery in order to promote your continual professional development.

Whilst we work in the present we believe in the importance of the client setting fundamental goals and therefore also being future-focussed. The past is a trail you leave behind you and is there for information only. Therefore the energy you use today needs to support you now and to motivate you to move toward your goals.
